YELLOW BUS SERVICE

Edmonton Public Schools provides yellow bus service to a student’s designated school if they are in Kindergarten to Grade 6 and live at least one kilometre away.

View the detailed map on any school page for the yellow bus service area, or contact the school.

Applying for yellow bus service

Whether your child is new to yellow bus service or a current rider, you need to apply for yellow bus service each school year. If you have more than one child who needs yellow bus service, you will need to apply for each child.

The deadline to apply for yellow bus service is June 1, 2024 to make sure your child receives service on the first day of the 2024-2025 school. You can always apply for bus service throughout the year.

To apply for service in:

2024–25
Complete the 2024–25 yellow bus service application form if your child needs service starting in September 2024.

If your child has been approved for yellow bus service, you’ll be notified in mid-August with the route number, stop locations, pick up and drop off times and bus company contact information.

2023–24
Complete the 2023–24 yellow bus service application form if your child needs service during the current school year.

Bus passes

Students who receive bus service must buy a bus pass. Yellow bus, and subsidized ETS passes, can be purchased at your child’s school each month.  If you wish to purchase an ETS bus, please contact the school at least one week prior to the end of the month so we can bring in the pass and put the fee on your child's SchoolZone.

Calling all new bus riders! First Riders Program (Thursday, August 22, 2024)

All K–6 students taking the bus for the first time are invited to the Edmonton Expo Centre on Thursday, August 22 for the 16th annual First Riders event. This free event is a unique hands-on opportunity for you and your child to get familiar with riding the bus before the school year begins.

Grade 7 students new to Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) and families wanting a refresher are welcome too.

Afternoon sessions run every half hour, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Evening sessions run every half hour, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Please register by August 19 to save your spot.

Ride times

Minimizing ride times for students is our highest priority. We’ll work to make sure yellow bus service is as efficient as possible and meets the District’s ride time standards. We’ll also continue our ongoing work with the City of Edmonton to discuss how to best provide efficient ETS service for district students.
